Episode 7- Returning to Our Homelands

Hello beautiful community!

We want to thank you to all who joined us last week. It was an honor and pleasure to get to connect with you all once again or for the first time!

We had a deeply moving conversation with Atumel and Richard who spoke with us about some of their experiences going back to their homelands and some of the reflections they gained from those experiences. Our conversation after their presentations was so touching.

We want to give each of them a huge thank you for taking the time and effort to meet with us. It was an honor to be able to hear from you both.

We want to share with you all a few of the things we talked about last week:

1.) Keep an eye out for Cooking Tour dates and locations!
Good news! Ramona, the president of DESGUA, is likely to have her VISA approved and will be able to travel to the US in the coming months. We will have an idea of exact dates and locations in the coming weeks of where we will be traveling to for the 2024 Cooking Tour!

2.) We are searching for funding opportunities!
As the fall approaches and our in-person workshops approach us, we want to apply for funding to support Ramona, the head chef at La RED and president of DESGUA, as she travels throughout the United States doing in-person cooking classes. Please inform us if you know of any opportunities we can apply to.

3.) Our fundraiser is still active!
We have several plans we'd like to carry out this year, but we need some funds to get these to take off. Please consider donating at the link below!

4.) Help us find get in touch with Luis Grijalva!
We want to host Olympic athlete Luis Grijalva at our next Chiltepes meeting. If you happen to know a way to connect with him, please let us know! We'd be honored to host him in our group.

5.) Chiltepes Chilerxs Spotlight/Testimony Series
We want to feature our community on our website that we are currently developing and on our Instagram page! Our idea is to share a few photos and some testimony for our online audience to read and for us to get to know each other.

We are still finalizing dates and times for the next meeting, but the biggest thing we need is finding Luis Grijalva to be one of our co-facilitators! Spread the word!
